Miles Yu Says Regime Change in China Is Inevitable but Not America’s Job To Impose Miles Yu, Senior Fellow and Director of the China Center at the Hudson Institute, said the Chinese people have already shown their desire to move from dictatorship to democracy.
Speaking on TWT Unleashed ahead of the Trump-Xi Summit in Beijing, Yu pointed to the Tiananmen Square protests and the White Paper movement as evidence. He called it human nature.
Yu argued that regime change has never been official U.S. policy, but said America’s existence and universal appeal give it a role in supporting democratic transitions.
He drew a distinction between imposing change and assisting people who are already demanding it. The Trump-Xi Summit is scheduled for May 14 to 15 in Beijing….
